Darrington Feast and Fayre - 21st June 2025
We are delighted to announce that the ever popular Darrington Feast and Fayre for 2025 will be held on the Village Field on Saturday, June 21st. This fun-filled family event is where our community comes together to celebrate everything good about our village and raise funds, so we can continue to manage the Village Field for the benefit of the community for generations to come.
Building upon 2024's fantastic event, we've decided that for this year, we’ll show-case some wonderful local talent on the main stage, whilst there will be activities and events in the main arena. We’ll have plenty to keep the younger ones entertained with a bouncy castle, face-painting, tea cups and, of course, of kids races.
To keep you refreshed, we’ll have the BBQ and our bar, whilst our catering tent will serve afternoon teas or if you just want a slice of cake, we’ll have some of that, too!
The success of this event relies entirely upon people giving up an hour or two of their time, so we can all have a great day fundraising for our wonderful community. We always welcome people willing to provide help at any stage of the day, so if you are free to help at the 2025 event, please get in touch. The Feast and Fayre Edwardian Lady
Did you know that the Village Field has not always hosted the Feast and Fayre?
Up to the mid-1970’s, Darrington had a summer gala, which was held in the Vicarage garden, what is now part of Beech Crescent.
In 1977, to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, the Village had a parade that went along Estcourt Road and ended with a celebration on the Village Field.
All the volunteers dressed in Edwardian costumes and, with the event a roaring success, it was decided that Darrington should have a Village celebration on the Field every year.
And so, the Darrington Feast and Fayre was born, the Edwardian Lady symbolising how great things can come from humble beginnings and a little bit of community spirit.
